자기결정성이론 관점에서 바라본 토요스포츠데이 프로그램의 성공요인

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 사례연구는 토요스포츠데이 프로그램 참여자의 내재가치를 충족시키는 사회적·교육적 환경 요소들을 이해하고자기결정성 이론에서 내재동기에 영향을 미치는 유능성, 자율성, 관계성의 관점에서 재해석 하고자 한다. 이를 위해 A지역에 소재하는 중학교 중 토요스포츠데이를 운영하고 있는 2개 학교를 임의로 선정하였으며 이중 각 학교에서 축구에 참가하고 있는 학생을 대상으로 표집하여 총 74명을 표집하였다. 자료수집은 참여관찰, 포커스 그룹, 교사 면담, 현장조사지를 활용하였으며, 자료분석은 Huberman and Miles(1983) 가 제시한 패턴분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과 토요스포츠데이 프로그램은 유능성 측면에서 학생들의 운동수행능력의 향상에 도움이 되었으며 신체적 자아를 표출하는 장이 되었다. 또, 자유로운 수업분위기와 학생들이 직접 종목과 참여를 선택하였다는 측면이 자율성을 지지하는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 토요스포츠데이는 기존의 학교에 없던 새로운 형태의 공식적인 어울림의 장을 제공하여 대인적 여가제약의 해소에 도움이 되고 새로운 인간관계 형성에도 기여하고 있었다. 결과적으로 토요스포츠데이 프로그램을 지도하는 교사의 자율성지지가 참여하는 학생들의 기본적인 심리욕구를 만족시키고 내적동기를 촉진시키는데 가장 중요한 요인이라 할 수 있으며, 외적인 압력 없이 자유롭게 활동을 선택하고 참여하는 과정에서 학생들의 유능성과 관계성 또한 더욱 촉진될 수 있음을 기대할 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This case study attempted to understand the elements of social and educational environment meeting the intrinsic value of the “Saturday Sports Day” program participants. Self-determination theory(SDT) provided theoretical framework to reinterpret the influence on intrinsic motivation from the perspectives of competence, autonomy, and relatedness.
Seventy-four participants were sampled from two schools in A region and both schools operated soccer program as the Saturday Sports Day. Data collection methods were participant observations, focus group, teacher interviews, and field survey and analyzed using pattern analysis proposed by Huberman and Miles(1983).
Findings revealed that the Saturday Sports Day program was supportive in terms of improved physical performance and physical self from the competence perspective. Also free atmosphere of the program and students’ choice of event and participation supported autonomy. Finally, the Saturday Sports Day provided a new type official interacting place that was helpful to solve interpersonal constraints as well as to build a new relationship.
In conclusion, teachers’ autonomy supportive environment was the most important factor that was meeting the students’ psychological needs and promoting intrinsic motivation further accelerating the competence and relatedness.
