2단계 CVM을 이용한 고래관광의 경제적 가치평가: 울산 고래관광을 중심으로 = Estimating the economic value of whale watching using two step CVM: Focused on the Ulsan whale-watching

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to estimate the economic value of whale watching by using a dichotomous choice Contingent Valuation Method(CVM). Specifically, this study adopted two-stage approach in order to reduce hypothetical bias with consideration of both hypothetical-setting and real-world setting and thereby increasing the accuracy of the estimated value of whale preservation. The results of logit models indicate that the estimated coefficients of bid price, attitude toward whale, awareness(real-setting 2), interest, and age significantly influenced willingness to pay(WTP). WTP truncated mean was estimated to be KRW 26,320 per household in hypothetical setting, KRW 22,946 in real-setting 1(bank giro), and KRW 16,852 in real-setting 2(personal info), respectively. This finding reveals that hypothetical setting is likely to overestimate WTP for the preservation value for whale. Thus, it is recommended that future researchers consider incorporating the real-world scenario to estimate real value. In addition, the aggregate preservation economic value of whale was estimated at KRW 345 billion per year.
