鬼神·妖怪의 存在論과 圖像學 - 한·중·일 문헌단편집을 대상으로-

국문 초록 (Abstract)

귀신·요괴 등 異物은 세계에 대한 주체의 공포와 불안이 상상적 이미지의 형태로 표현된 것이고, 사회적 갈등과 투쟁이 한 주체의 무의식적 세계 속으로 이입된 것이기도 하다. 따라서 異物 등에 대한 탐구는 곧 그러한 존재들을 필요로 하고 끊임없이 생성시키는 인간과 사회를 탐구하는 것에 다름 아니다. 그런 의미에서 귀신, 요괴담을 읽고 즐기는 것은 그 자체로서 억압과 배제의 현실이 지니고 있는 이면을 파헤치는 정치적 행위라고 할 수 있다.
이러한 문제의식을 바탕으로 본 연구과제는 3년동안 다수의 학술 논문 간행과 국제학술대회를 참석하여 본 연구과제에서 다루는 주제에 대해 여러 연구자들과 심도있는 논의를 진행하였다. 그 내용은 다음과 같다.
제 1차년도 학술논문(｢조선시대 비일상적 상상력 - 요괴 및 지옥 형상의 來源과 변모｣, <<한문학논집>> 35)에서는 조선의 요괴와 지옥 형상이 문헌 자료와 시각자료인 감로탱이나 지옥 시왕도에 어떻게 형상화 되었는가와 이러한 비일상적 상상력은 어디에서 기인했는가를 살폈다. 이 논문에서 귀신이나 요괴, 異物 등에 대해 조선인들이 갖고 있는 상상력이 기본적으로 鬼面瓦에 보이는 도깨비 문양에서 시작되었으며, 이후 고려시대 이후 유입된 <山海經> 속 異界의 모습과 불경 속 지옥의 모습에서 연유했음을 밝혔다. 또한 ｢17~19세기 韓中 저승 체험담 속 저승 묘사와 사상적 경향 비교｣(민족문화연구 59)에서는 17~19세기 한국과 중국의 저승 체험담 속에서 특히 저승의 면모에 주목하여 형상적 측면과 저승 이야기에 담긴 사상적 경향을 검토해 보았다.
2차년도에 ｢초등학생의 요괴, 귀신관 형성 경로 탐색 - 전통적 귀신관의 변화와 일본 귀신담 영향을 중심으로｣(우리문학연구, 40)에서는 초등학생들의 요괴 및 귀신관의 형성 경로와 그 의미를 분석하고, 한국 전통의 귀신, 요괴관이 어떻게 변화하고 있으며, 이 과정에 담긴 일본 귀신담의 영향을 살펴보았다. 본 연구는 과거 전통적 귀신담에서 보이는 귀신관이 현재 어떤 과정을 거쳐, 어떻게 변모했는가를 밝히고, 특히 현대 사회에서 귀신담의 대표 향유자인 초등학생들의 귀신관을 분석함으로써 현대 사회의 다양한 병리적 현상의 기저를 살피는 계기가 되었다는 점에서 연구 의의가 있다. ｢조선 필기·야담집 속 지식인의 巨人에 대한 상상과 그 원천｣(고전과해석, 29)에서는 조선시대 지식인들의 異物에 대한 상상력에 대한 연구의 일환으로, 巨人에 대해 필기· 야담집에 기록된 조선 지식인들의 시선을 분석하였다.

｢A Study on Unusual Imagination in Chosun - Origins and Changes of Monsters and Hell Features｣) -The purpose of this study was to investigate the origins of Chosun people's imagination about monsters and hells. For that purpose, the investigator examined their imagination in the depictions of monsters and hells in literature and visual materials such as paintings and patterns.

｢A Study on the Path of Elementary School Students Forming a View of Goblins and Ghosts- With a focus on the changes to the traditional view of ghosts and the influence of Japanese ghost stories｣-This study set out to analyze the path and significance of elementary school students forming a view of goblins and ghosts and investigate how the traditional Korean view of ghosts and goblins was changing and how the Japanese ghost stories were affecting in the process.
