대학생활적응능력을 통한 기독교 대학 성서 교양 필수 과목 개발 모색 ― 다양성, 회복탄력성, 공감 능력을 중심으로 = Exploring Ways to Improve the Mandatory Bible Courses in Christian Universities through Enhancing Students’ adaptation to University Life — Focusing on Diversity, Resilience, and Empathy

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 목적은 대학생활적응능력(다양성, 회복탄력성, 공감)을 고려하면서 기독교 대학 성서 교양 필수 과목 개발을 위한 방향과 대안을 모색하는 것이다. 국내외 기독교 대학들이 설립 정신과 가치를 전달하기 위해 개설하는 성서 혹은 기독교 관련 필수 과목들은 위기를 마주하고 있다. 이러한 위기는 대학 내에서 종교교육과 거리를 두려는 세속화와 전통적인 종교에 무관심하고, 개인의 자유와 다양성을 강조하는 변화된 대학생들의 문화에 기인한다. 그동안 연구자들은 기독교 대학 종교 관련 교양 교육이 맞이한 위기를 극복하기 위해 단순하고 일방적인 성서의 내용과 기독교 교리를 전달하는 교육 목표를 지양하라고 조언해 왔다. 이는 학습 수요자들인 대학생들의 이해와 요구를 충족시키는 방향으로 학습 커리큘럼을 개발하라는 것이다. 본 논문은 이러한 선행 연구를 수용하면서 코로나19 팬데믹 이후 대학생활적응에 어려움을 겪는 학생들이 크게 증가하는 상황을 고려하고자 한다. 대학생활적응능력 중에서 다양성, 회복탄력성, 공감 능력에 관한 이론을 설명하고, 한신대학교 성서 수업에 참여하는 재학생 199명의 설문 조사 결과를 바탕으로 학습자의 요구를 반영한 기독교 대학 성서 교과 개발을 위한 하나의 대안을 제시할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this paper is to explore alternatives to mandatory Bible courses at Christian universities, considering university students’ abilities for diversity, resilience, and empathy. Christian Universities have offered Christianity-related courses for their students in order to teach founding values. However, the universities are facing a crisis. This crisis stems from secularization, distance religious education, and the changed culture of university students who are indifferent to traditional religions and emphasize their individual freedom and diversity. In order to overcome these issues facing liberal arts education related to religion at Christian universities, scholars have claimed that the educational goals of simply delivering Bible content and Christian doctrine unilaterally should be avoided. They argue that the curriculum should be developed in a direction fulfilling the understanding and demands of student learners. While accepting such preceding research, this study intends to consider the situation of students facing difficulties in adapting to university life, difficulties that have greatly increased in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The theories regarding diversity, resilience, and empathy emphasizing the adaptive abilities of university students will be explained. In addition, reflecting the learners’ demands based on survey results from 199 enrolled students taking Bible courses at Hanshin University, this paper will suggest an alternative for developing a curriculum for mandatory Bible courses.
