As the technology has been developed, there have been many discussions about practical skills of classic reading. However, the efforts to study true nature of classic reading in context of cultural history have been insufficient. I explained the recognition and status of classic based on norm of cultural history as modernism and post-modernism. Modernism and post-modernism both guarantee public`s classic ear which classic comes closer to all people in opened form. However, modernism sees the people are `the whole as engineering system` and recommends everyone to read classic in the same way. In that point Modernism`s recognition on classic was top-down method and totalitarianism. Post-modernism tries to approach the people as the readers for ‘the whole for different individuals.’ Modernism managed communication by distributing message of classic interpretation from a few numbers of elite senders to a large numbers of public. However, in post-modernism, multiple senders (elite or public) communicate with multiple receivers as they make the multi layer of communication space. A certain meaning structure made by communication becomes interpretation of the classic. This is not fixed but always being changed actively. Namely, canonicity of classic can be challenged in accordance with a certain situation. Therefore, classic reading should be evolved in the following direction. First, re-conventionalization of classic reading is necessary. Universal value is important in classic after all and the value is enjoyed by endless re-interpretation in the process of accepting the classic through reading. However, the frame of interpreting, criticizing, communicating, and reprocessing the classic is changing, so re-conceptualization on classic reading is needed. This will make possible to make future type of classic reading which is shared by opened reading society. Second, the concept of classic which is recommended exclusively to everyone will be somehow weakened in the future. Instead, particular sector or need will become conditioned and the necessity to read classic for the purpose will be increased. Therefore, the value of classic will be changed from absolute to relative universality. We should overcome dogmatic and enlightenment communication of reading but to establish pluralistic and opened communication system. Third, the convention to apply a text itself directly to the concept of ‘classic’ will be disappeared but the tendency to value aggregate patterns (working state of reading classics) of classical text socially and culturally will be emerged. The phenomena that all external workings of classic text is comprehended rather than the classic text itself, namely classic phenomena will take an important position.
