    The purpose of this essay is to review the contents of the Gukminsohakdokbon and Sinjungsimsangsohak. Based on reviewing the contents, this essay will examine the difference of two reading books and cause of the difference.
    Gukminsohakdokbon was the reading book reflected the fundamentals of keeping the nation and practicalities. Though it was narrated from a Western point of view, it expressed the clear purpose of the mighty nation by naming each individual as the people. On the other hand, Sinjungsimsangsohak was the reading book reflected individual moral training. Two reading books were distinguished though an short interval of five months.
    The difference between two reading books was the result of the difference between the time. Gukminsohakdokbon was published rather freely but Sinjungsimsangsohak was published in interference from Japan. Since then, the formation of knowledge discourse was based on Gukminsohakdokbon' nation and Gukminsohakdokbon' moral traing in the period of enlightenment.
    This essay was the process of quest for the orgin of knowledge in the period of enlightenment and considering the diversity in the readings books in 1890s.
