유아교육 현장에서의 발달적으로 적합한 컴퓨터 활동의 활용을 위한 교사 연구 프로그램 개발 및 그효과 = The Evaluation of In - Service Teacher Training Program for Incorporation the Computer into the Early Childhood

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the computer literacy training program on the teacher`s belief and self-competence in using computers with young children based on the developmentally appropriate practice. In terms of primary concerns for the developmentally appropriate use of computers in the early childhood classroom, in-service teacher education program becomes a requirement. It is very important for the teacher to have the knowledge and attitude toward incorporation the computer into the early childhood classroom in developmentally appropriate ways. The training program of the study consisted of 5 sessions and was developed to provide teachers with practical experience, hands-on application, and workshop for active involvement, covering a better understanding of computers for young children, exposure to software applicable to early childhood education, and an understanding of how to incorporate the computer into the kindergarten classroom in developmentally appropriate ways. Seventy-eight kindergarten teachers participated in the training program. A questionnaire measure of kindergarten teacher`s belief and self-competence based on the developmentally appropriate practices of using computers with young children was administered to seventy-eight participants for the experimental group and fifty-six teachers for the control group. The analysis of covariance revealed significant difference between the mean scores of the two groups on all of the posttests. In addition, the participants showed a generally positive attitude toward the training program. Further research is needed to determine the effectiveness of the training program under regular classroom conditions and whether it helps teacher incorporate computers into their classroom in developmentally appropriate ways.
