봉화 해저마을 義城金氏 문중의 儒林團 義擧 참여 = Yoorimdan(Confucian Scholars) Patriotic Deed Participation of the Uiseung Kim Clan of Haejeo Village, Bonghwa

국문 초록 (Abstract)

독립운동이 일어나는 계기에는 다양한 요인들이 있다. 그 가운데 혈연은 마을 혹은 문중단위를 중심으로 하는 움직임의 동인으로 아주 중요하게 기능하였다.
경북 봉화의 해저마을 의성김씨 문중이 보여준 ‘유림단 의거’ 참여 모습은 독립운동에서 혈연이 가지는 중요성과 그 기능을 잘 보여주는 사례이다. 해저 의성김씨 문중은 일찍부터 지역에서 사회·경제적으로 성장하고, 지연과 학맥을 바탕으로 하여 그 권위를 떨쳤다. 경북의 경우 대개 이러한 위치의 문중은 나라의 위기에 앞장서는 모습을 보였다. 독립운동에 참여할 만한 여러 조건을 가지고 있었기 때문이다.
그러나 해저 의성김씨 문중의 경우 독립운동사의 전반부라 할 수 있는 의병항쟁·계몽운동·3·1운동 등에서 그 모습이 나타나지 않는다. 하지만 1919년, 김창숙의 해저방문을 계기로 해저 의성김씨 문중은 1차 유림단 의거에 동참하고, 문중 원로 3명은 유림의 대표로 파리장서에 서명하였다. 6년이 지난 1925년, 김창숙의 서신이 마을에 도착하자 이들은 다시 2차 유림단 의거에 참여하였다. 이어서 국외 독립군기지건설을 위한 군자금 모집활동을 펼쳤으며, 개인과 문중단위로 거액의 군자금을 내놓는 등 독립운동사에 커다란 족적을 남겼다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

There are various factors that serve as momentum for the genesis of an independence movement. Among those factors, the blood relation has functioned importantly as a chance for an independence movement centering around a village or clan. However, there has not been a study which has directly revealed the importance of the blood relation as a chance for an independence movement until now; yet, the blood relation could just explain the relationship among people in the process of development of an independence movement or only reveal its connectivity.
Nevertheless, Uiseung Kim clan’s participation of ‘Yoorimdan (Confucian Scholars) Patriotic Deed’ is a good example for showing the importance and function of the blood relation in an independence movement. They became well-known in their country village society with their social and economic footing during early periods. In most cases, these kinds of clans have taken the initiative in national crisis because they have had various conditions to participate in an independence movement.
However, Haejeo Uiseung Kim’s clan did not make their appearance during the first half of the independence movement which included voluntary soldier resistance, enlightenment movement, and March First Independence Movement. Yet, with Chang-suk Kim’s Haejeo visit in 1919, they participated in the first Yoorimdan Patriotic Deed and 3 clan elders signed the Paris Janeseo as the representatives of Confucian. In 1925, six years later, they participated in the second Yoorimdan Patriotic Deed again when the letter of Chang-suk Kim arrived at the village. Subsequently, they conducted a fund raising campaign for war funds to construct an overseas independence army base and also made large amounts of donation by an individual and a clan. They left a significant mark[legacy] in the history of the independence movement.
The blood relation with Chang-suk Kim has had the biggest effect in this movement momentum. This can be confirmed through the relationship between Haejeo of Bonghwa and Sahwol of Seungjoo. Haejeo Uiseung Kim clan originated from Sahwol of Seungjoo and later moved to Bonghwa. Additionally, Chang-suk Kim was originally from the Haejeo clan even though she was born in Seungjoo. Her father was adopted to Seungjoo so she was born in Sahwol. The two Uiseung Kim clans of Haejeo and Sahwol have consistently had a close relationship over space and time. A strong blood relation that originated from here has acted as the strongest energy that led to the Uiseung Kim clan’s fierce independence movement.
