Chinese national opera is an important form of Chinese vocal music art and an important part of Chinese traditional culture. In the history of one hundred years, Chinese national opera has experienced three periods: the embryonic period of development in the 1920s, the flourishing period of exploration in the 1940s and 1960s, and the diversified period of development after the 1980s. From the perspective of historical evolution, Chinese national opera has experienced the evolution of drama-singing method, new national singing method and Chinese Bel Canto singing method. Left behind White-haired Girl, Sister Jiang, Wilderness, Cangyuan and other well-known immortal works. Among them, the opera Sister Jiang can be described as the representative work of Chinese classic national opera. Since its debut in 1964, it has been performed by five generations of singers. The unique singing style of each generation of singers has witnessed the creation characteristics and singing style changes of Chinese national opera in different periods. The diversity and times of singing in Chinese national opera show the nationality of singing style.
Based on the overall review of the development of Chinese opera, this paper sorts out the commonalities and characteristics of singing methods of Chinese national opera in different periods. Taking Sister Jiang as the major work, this paper discusses the development vein and characteristics of the singing style of Chinese national opera, and examines the future development prospect of Chinese national opera through its evolution process.
