      Novel fabrication method for Film Patterned Retarder (FPR) has been studied. Conventional FPR process requires coating of photo-alignment and then UV exposure using mask and polarized UV, which is very expensive and difficult. Therefore, we have proposed the simple and low cost fabrication process. During our proposed fabrication, Ink-Jet printing method had been used to form patterned printing alignment with orthogonal alignment layer of 9FDA/CBDA. After rubbing, Reactive Mesogen (RM) had been coated onto the substrate and finally the novel FPR has been developed. RM is aligned parallel to rubbing direction on the film substrate area and aligned orthogonal to rubbing direction on the orthogonal alignment layer. FPR film can be achieved, realizing relatively fast and cost effectiveness.
