This study evaluated the performance of recycled asphalt mixture using reclaimed asphalt pavement(RAP). Using two types of inorganic additive the durability, rutting resistance and asphalt behavior of cold recycling asphalt were compared with conventional hot mix asphalt mixture(HMA). The curing method and period of the cold recycling asphalt mixture were also evaluated by indirect tensile strength and toughness testing. Moreover, Indirect tensile strength and failure strain were conducted to determine the optimum ratio of inorganic additives for cold recycling asphalt mixture. This study showed the results of laboratory performance tests of cold recycling asphalt additives developed in this study. Laboratory tests for the mixes include air void determination, indirect tensile strength, IDT dynamic modulus, moisture susceptibility, wheel tracking and IDT fatigue tests. based on the result of the air void test, cold recycling asphalt were found to have more air void content than the conventional hot mix asphalt, due to the evaporation of because water and emulsified asphalt from the cold recycling asphalt mixture. Compared to the conventional hot mix asphalt, cold recycling asphalts consisting of inorganic additives a or b performed lower in the Indirect tensile strength and toughness test. However, the results of the performance tests showed that the resistance of the cold recycling asphalt mixture against moisture and rutting were better than those of the conventional hot mix asphalt mixture. In addition, dynamic modulus test results showed that the modulus of the cold recycling asphalt (with inorganic additive A) was higher than those of the conventional hot mix asphalt at high temperatures. The cold recycling asphalt mixture was found to have higher fatigue life at lower strain applications. Therefore, recycled cold asphalt pavements are recommend for low volume roads. Lastly, field or accelerated pavement test validation of the proposed mixture is recommended for further studies.
