This study explores an experimental approach to generating fashion designs using fine-tuned generative AI, focusing on the Comme des Garçons collection. The rapid advancement of AI technology has introduced new creative possibilities to the fashion industry. Particularly, fine-tuning techniques allow existing AI models to be retrained to align with a specific brand's design DNA. This research attempts to generate AI-based fashion designs reflecting the key elements of Comme des Garçons.
The evaluation results indicate that while AI successfully capture the brand's silhouette and details, it struggls to accurately represent colors and materials. Moreover, limitations in color expression and technical constraints in the garment production process were identified.
This study highlights the potential for AI to inherit and creatively develop the identity of designer brands. The findings suggest that AI can complement and extend the creative capacity of designers, contributing to digital innovation within the fashion industry. Future research should deeper explore the interactions between AI design and the actual garment production process.
By demonstrating the creative potential of fine-tuned AI in fashion design, this study underscores the promising role of AI in reshaping design methodologies and supporting designers in the era of digital transformation.
