Objectives: The purposes of this study were to examine the sexual satisfaction and to identify the factors related to sexual satisfaction of dialysis patients. Method: For this descriptive correlational study, a convenient sample of 96 hemo or peritoneal dialysis patients was selected. Data were collected using structured questionnaire and analyzed using the SPSS/PC 10.0. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, correlation. and stepwise multiple regression analysis were used. Results: Sexual satisfaction of the respondents was negatively changed after dialysis. The current level of sexual satisfaction was low. Dialysis patients with diabetes mellitus reported lower sexual satisfaction than their counterparts. The respondents' age and spousal support were significant predictors of sexual satisfaction in dialysis patients. and these two variables explained 22.7% of variance of respondents' sexual satisfaction. Conclusion: The results of this study demonstrated that there are great needs for development of intervention programs to improve sexual satisfaction of dialysis patients. To identify aging effect on sexual satisfaction. sexual satisfaction of dialysis patients is need to be compared with that of general population. Moreover, interventions to improve sexual satisfaction of dialysis patients should be included their spouses.
