Analysis of Life Satisfaction Domains that Determine the Quality of Parent-Child Relationships in Korea

This research studied a select group of life satisfaction domains that directly impact satisfaction with the parent-child relationship. Examining the 2013 data culled from the 8th Edition of the Korea Welfare Panel with logistic regression analysis, the results indicated that the family satisfaction domain displayed the highest correlation to satisfaction with parent-child relationships, but the other domains—social support, income, occupation, health, leisure, and neighborhood—also showed a significant correlation. And for each domain, those who were satisfied with their parent-child relationship significantly out numbered those who were dissatisfied. Furthermore, of the independent variables connected to the level of quality in parent-child relationships, family satisfaction was found to have the highest predictability, followed by income, social support, health, leisure, and neighborhood. Therefore, in order to optimize parent-child relationships, life satisfaction domains must be enhanced in the sequence determined by the results of this study.
