국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고는 1816년에 다산의 주도 아래 완성된 『만덕사지』의 편찬 시기와 작업 진행 과정을 살피고, 편찬 당시 역할 분담은 어떻게 이루어지고, 책을 통해 드러내려한 핵심 내용이 무엇이었는지를 살핀 글이다.
다산은 1813년 여름 『대둔지』의 편찬 과정에서, 기어 자굉이 찾아낸 『동문선』 소재 만덕사 관련 승려의 기록에 자극을 받아, 제자 이청을 서울로 보내 나머지 자료를 모두 찾아오게 했다. 이를 바탕으로 만덕사의 고려 8국사와 조선 8대사의 존재를 확인하여 기본 틀을 완성할 수 있었다. 이후 1815년과 1816년에 걸쳐 다산초당에서 이루어진 집중 작업으로 이제껏 존재조차 알려지지 않았던 만덕사의 잊혀진 역사를 재구성하는 쾌거를 이루었다.
다산은 이 모든 작업을 직접 진두지휘하면서 역할을 효율적으로 분담시켰고, 이들이 해결하기 힘든 문제는 자신이 직접 전면에 나서서 정리했다. 다만 지나치게 도식적 틀에 맞추려 한 결과 일부 무리한 설정이 문제로 부각되었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This article explored the compilation time and work progression process of “Manduksaji” which was completed at the initiative of Dasan in 1816, how the role division was done, and the core intrinsic thought.
In the summer of 1813, Dasan received the stimulation in the record of the Buddhist monks of the Manduk temple in the “Tongmunsun” found by Gieo Jahong and sent his disciple Lee-Chung to Seoul. And He eventually got all original sources to Manduk temple. Based on this, we confirmed the existence of Koryo 8 national monks at the Manduk temple and completed the basic framework. After that, Dasan and his team accomplished a pleasure to reconstitute the forgotten history of the Manduk Temple, which had not been known so far in the concentrated work carried out in Dasan chodang between 1815 and 1816.
Dasan directs all work directly at the moment and efficiently divides the role, and the problem which these are difficult to solve was directly put forward and arranged. However, as a result of trying to fit overly framing framework, some impossible settings were overwhelmed by problems.
