he purpose of this study was to examine adolescents` perceptions of divorce and remarriage. To achieve this purpose, gender and grades differences in adolescents` general perceptions of divorce and remarriage, as well as their needs and coping strategies in case of their parents` divorce and remarriage, was investigated. The instruments used in this study were a perception questionnaire about divorce and remarriage for adolescents` and a self-reported questionnaire about needs and coping in case of parents` divorce and remarriage. Participants were 580 adolescents attending middle schools and high schools in Deagu. Data analysis was conducted by cross-tabs and chi-square test in SPSS/win program. The major results of this study can be summarized as follows; First, female students and high school students showed more positive perceptions of divorce compared to male students and middle school students. Second, female students and high school students exhibited more positive perceptions of remarriage than male students and middle school students. Third, most students, regardless their gender or grades, wanted to be counseled by their parents. Also, high school students and boy students showed higher tendency to solve problems by themselves than middle school students and girl students. The results of this study indicate that educational supports and multiful helping methods adolescents are needed, and adolescents need be helped to adapt domestic environments in case of their parents` divorce and remarriage.
