칸트 도덕철학의 관점에서 바라본 포스트휴먼

국문 초록 (Abstract)

오늘날 기술적 발전에 주목하는 학자들은 포스트휴먼의 가능성에 대해 언급하고 있다. 인간의 능력을 근본적으로 뛰어넘는 미래적 신인류로서 포스트휴먼은 갖가지 기술적 수단에 의해 인간능력이 향상된 인간이다. 이 글은 기술적 수단에 의한 인간 능력향상에 대해 칸트 도덕철학의 관점에서 반성해 보는 것을 목표로 한다. 칸트 도덕철학적 관점에서, 포스트휴먼 되기가 정당화될 수 있는지, 포스트휴먼 되기에 어떤 윤리적 문제가 있을 수 있는지 살펴볼 것이다. 이 글은 기술적 안정성과 안전성은 문제삼지 않고 가정할 것이다. 이것들은 철학적 쟁점이라기보다 기술적 쟁점이기 때문이다. 이 글은 칸트 도덕철학의 관점이 인간 능력의 공학적 향상 자체에 대해 무조건 부정적이지 않다는 것을 보여줄 것이다. 오히려 인간성의 완성이라는 방향과 관련하여 인간능력의 공학적 향상은 도덕적으로 허용될 수 있으며, 심지어 장려될 수 있는 길도 있어 보인다고 주장할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Recently the possibility of posthuman or transhuman is discussed by those who give attention to the development of emerging technologies, such as nanotechnology, neuroscience, biotechnology, information technology. The posthuman broadening or exceeding the natural human capabilities by overcoming aging, cognitive shortcomings, involuntary suffering is the enhanced human being. This article aims to look at the human enhancement by means of emerging technologies from a perspective of Kant’s moral philosophy. In his moral philosophical viewpoint, I examine some questions, whether a becoming posthuman can be justified and what problems there are for human to become posthuman. I"ll not deal with issues of safety and security. Because these are technological ones, rather than philosophical ones. In this article I’ll show you it is not true that the technological enhancement of human capabilities would be rejected by Kant in his moral philosophical perspective. On the contrary, I argue that the technological enhancement of human capability is permissible, even recommended by Kant’s moral philosophy, if it contribute to the perfection of humanity.
