「경성백인백색」 다시 읽기 = A Study on the Kyeong-seong-baek-in-baek-sa다

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this paper is to explore the characteristics of the Kyeong-seong-baek-in-baek-saek which was written in enlightenment period of Korea. The Kyeong-seong-baek-in-ba ek-saek adopted a style of confession. I suppose the Kyeong-seong-baek-in-baek-saek was written between January of 1905 and April of 1906. The evidences of the supposition are vocabularies and occurrences that are found in the literary work. The Kyeong-seong-baek-in-baek-saek was serialized in the newspaper Han-seong-sin-bo which was published by Japanese editorial staff who was supported by Japanese government. The Kyeong-seong-baek-in-baek-saek was recognized as a one of the representative literary work of a satirical prose in enlightenment period in Korean literary history by some scholars. But I think it is not true because there is no genuine spirit of satire in the work. One of the most important genuine spirit of satire is intention for improvement of poor situation. It is hard to find that kind of intention for writing in Kyeong-seong-baek-in-baek-saek. There are many political intentions which aims disparagement for Korean people in the work. The writer of the work wanted to criticize unfavorably nature of Korean people. The writer wanted to speak about a nature of Korean people as a factor of destruction of Korean government in 1900s. A intention of writing of Kyeong-seongbaek-in-baek-saek is very similar with a intention of production for sin-jin-sa-moon-dap-ki which was serialized in Han-seong-sin-bo, That kind of intention of writing is continued to some serials in Mae-il-sin-bo which was published by Japanese government(the government - general) in colonial period in Korea.
