This study aims to enhance the effectiveness of Korean music education for Chinese international students by systematically analyzing the methods used to transcribe Korean janggu (장구) gueum (vocal syllables, 口音) into Chinese. To this end, it organizes the basic gueum system of Korean janggu rhythms and establishes transcription criteria based on the phonological structure of standard Chinese. The research centers on a comparison of Korean and Chinese phonological systems, an analysis of the actual pronunciation of janggu gueum, and common pronunciation errors observed among Chinese learners. The findings indicate that simply transcribing existing Korean gueum into Hanyu Pinyin (漢語幷音) is limited in conveying accurate pronunciation and meaning. Therefore, the study proposes a modified transcription method focused on finals (rhyme elements) to improve pedagogical effectiveness. This research is significant in that it offers practical pronunciation guidelines for use in international Korean music education settings and suggests new possibilities for a linguistically informed approach to janggu instruction.
