The hotel and lodging industry is making significant investment in information technology to improve the quality of its products or services and efficiency of it processes, through which it gains competitive advantage in the market. This study investigates the impact of information technology on competitive advantage in the hotel and lodging industry. This research employs a case study approach to evaluate competitive advantage from information technology application. The research results show that the strategy of the lodging company influences competitive advantage through information technology. The asset holding companies achieve a different type and level of competitive advantage through information technology as compared to franchised hotels and lodging companies.
