비체화한 모성의 우울증과 육친애 - 최정희 <지맥>과 <천맥>고 = Melancholy of Abject Maternity and Love of Blood Relative - A study on Choi, Jeong-Hee's <A Layer of Land> and <A Layer of Sky>

This study aims to regard Choi, Jeong-Hee's <A Layer of Land> and <A Layer of Sky> to a process that an abject woman restores herself with ‘rewriting’ on the discourses of patriarchy. In other words, this study would examine how an abject woman performs herself with rewriting, repetition- quotation on patriarchal discourses, in while considering the point that the heroine causes trouble between desire of a woman and instinct of a mother in those works. The heroin deprived her right because of her position as an unmarried-mother faces the fact that she has lost herself and searches how she could recover herself. She would weave herself in normal society with enlarging her position as a mother instead of returning herself to a normal home. This relates to the process that she searches the self permitted in society through destroying her desire. In this process, she expresses the desire for punishment herself and hysteria from the fear on external world in while opposing several system and getting discouraged. Her hysteria becomes the point that an abject's desire is still revealed beneath the trial that she makes position present herself in the order of patriarchy through sadistic super-ego punishing her desire. In the end of Choi, Jeong-Hee's novels, rewriting to the maternity is regarded to the trial which an abject woman would rewrite the patriarchal discourses. In <A Layer of Land> and <A Layer of Sky>, the melancholy woman self unites the voice of woman and the voice of mother with the love of blood relative. The double voices of mother and woman shows a performance bolting from the patriarchal discourses in while merging with the love of blood relative.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고는 최정희의 <지맥>과 <천맥>을 남성중심 사회의 담론에 대한 ‘다시쓰기’ 통해 비체화한 여성이 상실한 자아를 재정립해 가는 과정으로 의미 매김하려 한다. 다시 말해 본고에서는 <지맥>과 <천맥>이 여성으로서의 욕망과 모성으로서의 본능 사이에서 균열하는 여러 가지 지점에 천착하여 비체화한 여성이 어떤 담론과 이데올로기에 대한 다시쓰기, 반복 인용을 통해 자아를 수행하는가를 해명할 것이다. 이들 소설에서 미혼모로서 법체계에서 권리를 박탈당한 여주인공은 ‘나를 상실했다’는 사실과 직면하며, 상실된 자아를 어떤 경로를 통해 회복할 것인지 모색한다. 그녀는 정상적인 가정으로의 복귀를 꿈꾸는 대신 어머니로서 자신의 위치를 확대하는 방법을 통해 사회에 편입되려 한다. 이는 욕망을 거세함으로써 사회 속에서 허용되는 자아를 찾는 과정과 결부된다. 이 과정에서 주인공은 여러 제도와 대항하는 가운데 좌절을 겪으며 자신에 대한 처벌 욕망을 드러내고 세상에 대한 공포에서 오는 히스테리를 나타낸다. 여성 주인공이 느끼는 히스테리는 사디즘적 초자아에 의해 자신의 욕망을 처벌하고 현재의 자아를 남성 중심적 질서 내부에서 위치 지으려는 시도 이면에 아직도 내재한 욕망, 곧 비체의 욕망이 발현되는 지점이 된다. 최정희 소설이 결말에서 갑자기 모성으로 다시쓰기를 수행하는 것은 남성 중심 담론에 대한 비체화한 여성의 다시쓰기 시도라고 볼 수 있다. <지맥>과 <천맥>에서 우울증적 여성 자아는 모성과 여성이라는 두 가지 목소리를 육친애로 결합하고 있다. 모성과 여성의 이중적 목소리는 육친애 속에 융합하는 가운데 남성 중심 담론의 맥락에서 이반하는 수행성을 보여준다.
