결혼생활 5년이하와 6년 이상 부부의 결혼생활 만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인 분석 = Factors that affect marital satisfaction of spouses in marriages for 5 years or fewer and 6 years or more

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study analyzes the key factors affecting marital satisfaction. The theoretical background is rooted in the seven principles of the ‘Happy Home of Marriage’ model in Gottman’s theory of success and failure of marriage. Each principle suggests how to achieve a happier marital relationship and is closely correlated with each other, although each of the seven seems to be independent. For quantitative analysis, a survey was conducted on 145 male and female adults living in Seoul, who are in one of two groups of early marriage, 5 or fewer years of marriage or 6 or more years.
For those with 5 or fewer years in marriage, communication turns out to be a key factor affecting their marital satisfaction. Variables in positive correlation include self-esteem, an active attitude and spousal conflict solving, whereas an inactive attitude and sexual satisfaction show little significance.
For those with 6 or more years of marriage, sexual satisfaction, an active attitude and communication are the factors affecting their marital satisfaction, whereas self-esteem and inactive attitude do not show significance.
The study concludes that communication widely affects marital relationships in general and that higher satisfaction with communication increases the level of self-esteem, active attitude and conflict solving.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 결혼생활만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석하기 위해 이론적 배경은 Gottman의 결혼의 성공과 실패에 대한 이론 중 7층으로 구성 된 ‘행복한 결혼의 집’ 모형을 중심으로 기본적인 틀을 마련하였다. 이 이론에서 각 층은 행복한 부부관계를 이루는 원리를 제시하고 있는데 각 층은 서로 밀접하게 얽혀 있어서 독립 된 층 같지만 1층부터 7층 까지 각 요소들이 서로 영향을 줄 수 있다는 이론이다. 양적분석을 위해서는 서울에 거주하고 있는 성인남녀 중 신혼기 부부라고 할 수 있는 145명을 대상으로 결혼생활 5년 이하와 6년 이상으로 분리하여 조사 분석하였다.
분석한 결과를 보면 결혼생활 5년 이하 부부의 결혼생활 만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인은 의사소통이었고, 정적 상관관계를 갖는 변인은 자아존중감, 적극적 대처, 그리고 부부갈등의 대처방식이었으며, 소극적 대처와 성만족도는 유의미한 관계가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 이와는 달리, 결혼생활 6년 이상 부부의 결혼생활 만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인은 성만족도, 적극적 대처, 그리고 의사소통 만족도였으며, 자아존중감과 소극적 대처와의 상관관계는 확인되지 않았다.
이는 의사소통의 만족도가 결혼생활 전반의 만족도에도 영향을 미쳐, 의사소통의 만족도가 높아질수록 이로 인해 자아존중감, 적극적 대처, 갈등을 대처하거나 극복하려는 수준이 함께 높아짐을 확인할 수 있다.
