휠체어댄스스포츠: 나와 사회와의 교량 = Wheelchair Dance Sports: Bridge Between I and the Society

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 지체장애인이 휠체어댄스스포츠에 참여하는 과정에서 경험하는 참여자간의 문화를 이해하고, 참여자 개인이 갖는 휠체어댄스스포츠 경험이 이들의 삶에 어떤 역할을 하고, 의미를 갖는지에 관하여 심층적으로 이해하는데 있다. 휠체어댄스스포츠에 참여하는 다섯 명의 휠체어파트너를 대상으로 문화기술적 연구방법을 사용하여 참여관찰, 심층면담, 기사자료 등을 통해 연구 자료를 수집하고 Spradley(1980) 영역 분석, 분류 분석, 성분분석방법을 이용하여 자료를 분석하였다. 이와 같은 분석과정을 거쳐 47개의 의미단어를 찾아 15가지 영역으로 범주화 하였고, 5개의 총괄용어와 2개의 주제를 추출하였다. 매력적인 휠체어댄스스포츠: 향상된 신체적 능력과 심리적 만족감으로 사람과 소통하기, 쉽지 않은 휠체어댄스스포츠: 낮선 시선 맞서 나서는 부담과 파트너와의 갈등, 대회와 공연에 적응하면서 파트너십을 형성하는 지속적 참여를 위한 노력 등의 3개의 총괄용어로 ``매력적인 댄스스포츠를 지속하려는 노력과 도전``의 주제어를, ``사회로 나가기 위한 발판``과 ``휠체어댄스스포츠로 미래를 꿈꾸다``의 2개의 총괄용어로 ``휠체어댄스스포츠로 다시 태어난 나``의 주제를 도출하였다. 이 주제를 통해 이들이 삶을 살아가는 과정에서 휠체어댄스스포츠는 연구참여자들에게 중요한 역할과 의미를 제공한다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to understand the culture of the wheelchair dance sports participants and to explore the role and the meaning of wheelchair dance sports experience to the participants with physical disability. Five physically disabled participants with more than 2 year experiences in wheelchair dance sport were located; two with congenital disability and three with car accidents. Employing ethnographic methods, data collection, analysis (domain analysis, taxonomic analysis, and componential analysis), and interpretation has been undertaken. For trustworthiness and credibility, multiple methods such as triangulation for two data interpreters and more than three data sources, peer check, and peer debriefing were incorporated into the study purposely and systematically. All the data sources were kept for audit trail. Fifteen sub-covered terms were derived from 47 meaningful words. Finally five covered terms and two themes have been emerged. Two themes were endeavors and challenges for keeping the attractive wheelchair dance sports on and me reborn through wheelchair dance sports. Wheelchair dance sports had an important role and meaning for coming out toward the society and for living new life. Wheelchair dance sports were a valuable partner for the participants to be confident and a significant bridge to the future.
