청소년의 선호 직업 편중 현상과 진로지도의 과제 = Career Guidance Tasks for Unbalanced Preferences of Youth for Certain Vocations

In relation to youth career guidance, there have been many concerns about the unbalanced preferences toward certain vocations and frequent discussions have been had on this topic. This study reviews this phenomenon of the unbalanced preferences of youth for certain vocations focusing on the current state and background and attempts to formulate tasks for career guidance in order to solve these problems. For this purpose, the following research questions were designed. First, what is the current state of youths’ unbalanced preferences toward certain vocations? Second, what is the foundation for these unbalanced preferences? Third, what are the tasks for solving these problems of unbalanced preferences for certain vocations? In order to solve these research questions, this study utilized literatures related to the phenomenon of unbalanced preferences of youth toward certain vocations, analysis of previous researches, case analysis of career guidance for youth, questionnaire surveys submitted to youths, interviews with experts, consultation meetings, etc. As a result, it was found that the reasons for these unbalanced preferences toward certain vocations were caused by a lack of understanding by the youths themselves, a lack of knowledge of vocations, career decisions led by their parents, influence by the media, prejudice regarding sex roles, an unstable labor market, etc. To correct such unbalanced preferences, first, there must be a cultivation of a mature mindset regarding careers for youths. Under the assumption of such a mature mindset for careers, this study suggests five goals along with the methods for attaining each goal. In addition, it introduces the requirements of an ideal youth who has a mature attitude and a positive and logical career mindset. Furthermore, discussions were held on the tasks to achieve those goals.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

청소년 진로지도와 관련하여 최근에는 청소년의 선호 직업 편중 현상에 대한 우려의 이야기가 자주 거론되고 있다. 본 연구는 청소년의 선호 직업 편중 현상을 그 현황과 원인을 중심으로 살펴보고, 이를 해결하기 위한 진로지도의 과제를 도출하는 데 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위하여 설정된 연구문제는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 청소년의 선호 직업 편중의 현황은 어떠한가? 둘째, 청소년의 선호 직업 편중 현상의 원인은 무엇인가? 셋째, 청소년의 선호 직업 편중 현상을 해결하기 위한 진로지도의 과제는 무엇인가? 연구문제를 해결하기 위하여 본 연구에서는 청소년의 선호 직업 편중 현상과 관련된 문헌 및 선행 연구 분석, 청소년 진로지도 사례 분석, 청소년 대상 설문조사, 전문가 면담 및 자문회의 등의 방법을 활용하였다. 연구 결과 청소년의 선호 직업 편중 현상의 원인은 자기이해 부족, 직업세계에 대한 이해 부족, 부모 위주의 진로결정, 매스컴의 영향, 성역할 고정관념, 고용불안이 만연한 노동시장 등으로 나타났다. 청소년의 선호 직업 편중 현상을 완화하기 위해서는 청소년의 진로의식 성숙이 전제되어야 한다는 가정 하에 본 연구에서는 청소년의 진로의식 성숙을 위한 목표를 다섯 가지로 제안하고 각각의 목표를 달성하기 위한 방법을 제시하였다. 아울러 주요 진로이론에서 상정하는 진로의식이 성숙된 청소년의 모습이 무엇인지를 살펴보고, 이를 달성하기 위한 과제들도 논의되었다.
