대학 튜터링 프로그램이 수학 학습성과에 미치는 영향 : H대학교 사례를 중심으로 = The Effects of a Tutoring Program on Learning Outcomes in Mathematics

국문 초록 (Abstract)

종합적 사고와 창의적 문제해결력을 향상시키는 수학교과에 대한 인식이 높아지는 반면, 대학생들의 기초 수학능력이 저하되고 있다. 따라서 대학들은 기초수학능력이 부족한 학생들의 학습지원을 위해 튜터링 프로그램을 적극적으로 지원하고 있으며 학생들의 참가율과 기대효과도 점차 증가되고 있다. 본 연구는 대학의 튜터링 프로그램이 수학 학습성과에 미치는 영향을 규명하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 H대학교의 수학 튜터링 프로그램 운영사례를 중심으로 튜터링집단과 통제집단의 학업성취도 및 학습만족도 차이를 비교하였다. 연구대상은 튜터링 프로그램에 참여한 학습자 113명과 미참여자 183명이었고, 수집된 자료는 독립표본 t –검정, 반복측정공분산분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 첫째로 통제집단에 비해 튜터링집단의 학업성취도 평균이 유의미하게 높았다. 또한 사전지식 하위학습집단별 비교에서 통제집단보다 튜터링집단의 사전지식 하위학습집단 학업성취도 평균이 유의미하게 높았다. 둘째로 통제집단에 비해 튜터링집단의 학습만족도 평균이 유의미하게 높았다. 사전지식 하위학습집단별 비교에서는 통제집단에 비해 튜터링집단의 사전지식 하위학습집단 학습만족도 평균이 유의미하게 높은 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 이러한 결과는 수학 튜터링 프로그램이 수학 학습성과에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다고 볼 수 있으며, 특히 수학기초능력이 부족한 사전지식 하위학습집단의 학습성과에 긍정적인 영향을 준다고 볼 수 있다. 본 연구는 향후 대학 내 튜터링 프로그램의 활성화 및 수학 학습성과 향상을 위한 학습전략 방안을 모색하는데 기초적 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to analyse the effects of a tutoring program on learning outcomes in mathematics. The methodology for its analysis was to compare the differences between a tutored group and a control group in terms of academic achievement and learning satisfaction. The tutored group was composed of 113 students who were involved in a tutoring program as tutees, and the control group was composed of 183 non-involved students. The collected data were analyzed using an independent sample t–test and a repeated measures analysis of covariance. The research findings are summarized as follows. First, the academic achievement level of the tutored group was higher than that of the control group. To be specific, the academic achievement level of the low prior knowledge learners in the tutored group was significantly higher than that of the control group. This indicates that a tutoring program can enhance the level of academic achievement of low prior knowledge learners. Second, the learning satisfaction level of the tutored group was higher than that of the control group. To be concrete, the learning satisfaction level of the low prior knowledge learners in the tutored group was significantly higher than that of the control group. These results indicate that attendance in a tutoring program has an influence on learning outcomes in mathematics. This study is expected to be utilized as a basic reference for promoting tutoring programs in universities. (234 words)
