『논리－철학 논고』에 나타난 비트겐슈타인의 종교철학 = Ludwig Wittgenstein’s Philosophy of Religion in the Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문은 ‘신비적인 것’이라는 표제 아래 논의된 텍스트들을 집중적으로 분석함으로써 『논리－철학 논고』에 함축된 전기 비트겐슈타인의 종교적 관점을 밝히는 것을 목표로 한다. 하지만 이 언급들이 극도로 짧고, 파편적이며, 심지어 모호하기까지 하기 때문에, 주제와 관련된 『노트북(1914∼1916)』과 「윤리학에 관한 강의」의 주요 텍스들도 함께 검토하게 될 것이다. 이와 같이 확장된 텍스트 분석으로부터, 윤리적 혹은 종교적 “경험들”의 기본적 국면이 사실적 경험이 아니라, 절대적 가치와 관련된 세계를 하나의 전체로서 보는 ‘상(相)－보기’라는 것이 밝혀진다. 이렇게 종교적 믿음을 ‘상(相)－보기’의 유형으로 규정하는 것은 비트겐슈타인이 윤리적 혹은 종교적 표현들의 본질이 ‘무의미성’이라고 열정적으로 믿었던 진정한 이유를 보다 잘 이해할 수 있도록 돕는다. 뿐만 아니라 이러한 통찰은, 신을 인과적 연결망의 최종 종착점으로 설정하거나 불멸성을 무한정한 시간적 연속성으로 간주함으로써, 결국 종교적 믿음의 절대적 가치의 상실을 유발하는 온갖 종류의 ‘사실화’에 대한 의미 있는 경고 역할을 한다. 마지막으로 이 결과들은 『논고』 자체의 기본 성격과 관련해서 이른바 ‘전통적 해석’과 ‘단호한 해석’ 사이의 최근 논쟁에 보다 설득력 있는 대안을 제공하는 데 기여하게 될 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This article aims to shed light on Wittgenstei’s implicit religious views in Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus, focusing on the texts discussed under the title of ‘the mystical’. Since these remarks are exceedingly brief, fragmented and sometimes enigmatic, to obtain significant textual evidences, additional sources such as the Notebook (1914-1916) and ‘Lecture on Ethics’ will also be examined. From this extended textual analysis, it is noticed that the basic feature of ethical or religious “experiences” are not factual, but what Wittgenstein later called ‘aspect-seeing’(a commitment to the world itself as a whole in connection with absolute values). Considering religious belief as a type of ‘aspect-seeing’ serves to better understand the real reason why Wittgenstein passionately believes that the nonsensicality should be the very essence of ethical or religious expressions. It is also a significant warning against any kind of factualization(such as to believe in God or immortality as the ultimate terminus of contingent causal connection or survival in infinite temporal duration), which causes loss of absolute values of religius belief. Finally, these results also contribute to suggest a better solution to the recent debates between traditional reading and resolute reading, with regard to basic characteristics of the Tracatus itself.
