The purpose of this study was to discuss the relationship between learning and memory and emotion in brain-scientific approach and investigate how to use emotion in order to improve learning and memory in the teaching- learning process within formal curriculum.
As there is the growing scientific evidence by recent brain-scientific advance supporting the interaction between cognition and emotion through either neurotransmitters' process or brain's structure and function, more and more scientists started to show keen interest in emotion.
Based on those research findings, we newly get to learn that emotion which had been merely regarded as marginal factor, facilitates learning and memory as well as is itself important.
This study discussed the brain areas related to emotion, the role of emotion in learning and memory, and relationship among stress, emotion, and learning. Finally, this study suggested how to use emotion in order to improve learning and memory in teaching-learning process.
