기행다큐멘터리 서사에 나타난 여행의 실존적 진정성 = The Existential Authenticity Incorporated into A Travel Documentary

국문 초록 (Abstract)

21세기에 들어서 정신 고양과 인간 존재를 문제 삼는 진정성 추구 여행이 증가함에 따라 관광학에서 논의되어 왔던 실존적 진정성에 대한 보다 심도 있는 담론의 필요성이 제기된다. 본 연구의 목적은 진정성 추구여행을 다루고 있는 기행다큐멘터리 ?샹그리라?의 언술내용을 대상으로 실존적 진정성이 어떤 양상으로 구현되어 있는지를 살펴보고 실존론 관점에서 해석하는 데에 있다. 이러한 연구 목적을 위해서 진정성의 실존철학적 함의, 숭고와 영성, 그리고 진정성의 상품화에 대한 이론적 배경을 설명하였다. 조사대상 기행다큐멘터리의 실존적 진정성을 해석하기 위한 하위 개념은 일상성에의 저항의식, 숭고와 영성 경험, 자연미 경험과 무대화된 진정성에 대한 회의(懷疑)였다. 조사대상 기행다큐멘터리에 나타난 실존적 진정성 양태는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 진정성 추구 여행자는 일상성의 진부함과 세속적임에 저항하고, 하이데거가 말하는 불안을 예비한 자이기 때문에 여행을 통해서 비본래적 삶을 본래적 삶으로 전환하려는 의식을 갖고 있다. 둘째, 그들은 자연 대상을 무관심적으로 관조함으로써 칸트가 말하는 수학적?역학적 숭고를 경험하였다. 자연의 몰 형식성으로부터 정신 고양을 경험하기 위해서는 여행자 내면에 자기 자신에게 진실하고자 하는 진정성 마음 체제가 마련되어 있어야 한다. 셋째, 여행자는 원시 자연을 감상하면서 자연과 자아와의 합일을 통해 도덕 감정이 고양되는 것을 경험하였다.이는 여행자 자신이 자연 대상과 정신적으로 친밀해지려는 노력의 결과로, 자연대상으로 하여금 스스로 말하게 하는 미메시스(mimesis) 능력에 근거한다. 넷째, 샹그리라는 진정성과 아우라가 사라지고 자본화·세속화로 인해 인간 소외 과정을 겪고 있는 여타 도시와 차이가 없는 장소일 뿐이다. 원주민들은 자연스럽게 홈 패인 영토로 편입되고 관광객은 강제로 무대화된 진정성을 경험할 수밖에 없다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

As people were interested in enhancing their spiritual contents and status of being, authenti-seeking travels were drastically increasing these days. With this travel trend, the issue of existential authenticity in tourism needed to be illuminated. The purpose of this study was to examine the diverse aspects of existential authenticity incorporated into an authentic-seeking travel and interpret them from the philosophical perspective by analyzing the writing contents of the travel documentary “Shangri-La”. To do this end of the study, the possible aspects of existential authenticity were drawn from the philosophical theories, such as Heidegger’s authentic Dasein and Angst, Kant’s aesthetics, Deleuzo-Guattarian concepts and Benjamin’s aura. Resistance of everydayness, sublimity and spirituality, aesthetics of nature, and skepticism about commercialized authenticity were found as key contents of existential authenticity.
Because authenti-seeking travelers inherently resisted the snobbism and stereotype of the everydayness and at the same time they were charged with the Heidegger’s Angst, they had strong consciousness for being authentic Dasein. They experienced both mathematically and dynamically sublime by being contemplative of mother nature. An authentic mind-set should be inwardly prepared to experience the sublimity from the nature, which could lead to his spiritual uplift. Authenti-seeking travelers experienced the moral uplift through being accorded with mother nature in appreciation of nature. This was because they had a mimesis ability which could make nature voluntarily speak out. Shangri-La became a commercialized tourist space being suffered from alienation, snobbism, and capitalism like our everyday lives. Aboriginal people in Shangri-La automatically were brought into an arborescent sedentary zone from a rhizomatic nomadic zone. Tourists became too much exposed into the staged authenticity.
