과학기술의 본질과 환경윤리적 의미 : 과학문명의 환경친화적 발전을 위한 모색 = The essence of scientific technology and its eco-ethical meaning

국문 초록 (Abstract)

기술과 환경에 대한 윤리적 당위성을 과학과 기술에 대한 인식론적 이해로부터 도출해 보려는 것이 이 논문의 목적이다. 과학기술은 한편으로는 자연을 구성, 조작하는 인간의 주체성을, 다른 한편으로는 인간의 구성, 조작이 자연의 사실에 의해 제약되는 객관적 특성을 지닌다. 이러한 사실은 인간이 자연에 가하는 조작, 즉 능동적 행위는 언제나 자연의 법칙의 한계 안에서 이루어진다는 것을 나타내며, 나아가 인간 생존의 관점에서 자연의 기술적 조작이 인간에게 미칠 영향에 대해 심사숙고해야 한다는 윤리적 태도를 요청하게 된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper is an attempt to deduce our ethical obligations towards technotogy and the environment from epistemological considerations. This attempt is, at the same time, a critique of Don Ihde's thought, which is based on a phenomenological analysis of technology. Scientific technology has a subjective aspect, constructing and manipulating nature from an epistemological viewpoint. Furthermore, we find certain restrictions on our actions towards nature, restrictions which relate to natural laws. This fact show 11s that the construction and technological manipulation of nature can take place only whithin the domain of objective natural law. Moreover, the ethical attitude is postulated as being necessary for the survival of mankind if we consider the negative effects of our technological manipulation of nature
