한국 현대 소설의 병리와 치유적 성격을 통한 문학치료 가능성 연구 = A Study on the Possibility of Literature Therapy through the Pathology and Healing Character of Korean Modern Novel

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 한국 현대 소설에 나타난 병리성과 치유적 성격에 주목을 하여 이를 문학 치료적으로 접근함으로써, 소설 텍스 트의 치유 및 치료적 가능성을 타진해 보았다. 한국 현대 소설 속의 정신 병리는 셀 수 없을 정도로 많으며 병리의 유형들 또한 다양하다. 근대적 주체로서 개인화된 인간은 실존적 삶에의 조건들에 대항하여 운명적으로 불안과 고독, 히스테리 등의 신경증적 증상들을 앓는다. 이러한 증상들의 완화와 통과를 위해 한국 현대소설의 문학치료 가능성을 염두에 두고, 소설 작품이 가지는 병리와 치유적 성격들을 먼저 살펴보았다. 질병의 역사라고도 할 수 있는 현대소설사의 흐름 안에서 작품 속 병리와 치유적 성격은 어떤 양상으로 표출되어 왔는가 를 알아보고, 이러한 상반된 두 가지 성격들을 통해 문학치료 가능성의 방법을 찾을 수 있다. 즉 한국 현대 문학 속의 정신병리는 정신 건강학적 측면도 동시에 담고 있는 것이 특징인데, 이것은 역으로 병리의 파악이 치유에의 가능성을 열어 주는 것이 되기도 한다는 것을 말하며 나아가 작품 고유의 건강한 측면의 파악과 활용으로서 문학치료 가능성을 열어 볼 수도 있다는 것을 알 수 있다. 소설 작품 속 치유적 성격은 우선 건강과 고통의 의미에 대한 입장부터 새롭게 하는 것을 요구하는데 건강은 고통이 제거 된 상태가 아니며, 상처의 치유란 고통에 대항하는 태도 그 자체로 본다. 이러한 건강과 고통에 대한 새로운 시각에서부터 소설 작품 속 병리와 치유적 성격을 통한 문학치료적 가능성은 논의될 수 있다. 그리고 치유로서의 문학 Literature as Therapy 이 가지는 기능에 유용한 매트릭스가 될 수 있는 것이다. 앞으로 한국 현대소설의 문학치료 적용에 대한 다양한 접근과 대안의 제시는 이러한 기본 인식 위에서 만이 가능하다.

This paper focuses on the pathological and healing characteristics of modern Korean novels, and by approaching it literally, I tried to explore the healing and therapeutic potential of novel texts. Psychopathology in modern Korean novels is incalculable and the types of pathology are also diverse. As a modern subject, personalized human beings are destined to suffer from neurotic symptoms such as anxiety, loneliness, and hysteria, against the conditions of existential life.In order to alleviate and pass these symptoms, I examined the pathology and healing characteristics of novels in the light of the possibility of literary therapy in Korean modern novels. In the course of modern novels, which can be called the history of diseases, we examine the pathology and the healing personality in the works. And through these two conflicting personalities, we can find ways of literary therapy. In other words, psychological pathology in Korean modern literature is characterized by the simultaneous mental health aspects. This, in turn, means that the identification of pathology opens up the possibility of healing, Furthermore, it can be seen that it is possible to open the possibility of literary treatment by grasping and utilizing the healthy aspect of the work. In the novel, the healing personality first calls for renewing from the standpoint of the meaning of health and suffering, but health is not a condition of elimination of pain, and healing of a wound is an attitude itself against pain. From this new perspective on health and suffering, the possibility of literary therapy through pathology and healing nature in novels can be discussed. And it can be a useful matrix for the function of Literature as Therapy . In the future, various approaches to the application of literary therapy in Korean modern novels and the presentation of alternatives are possible only on the basis of these basic perceptions.
