판단과 감정(2): 새로운 판단 이론의 전개 = Judgment and Emotion (2): A New Theory of Judgment

In this paper I develop a new theory of judgment based on E. Husserl’s phenomenology. As I stated in the previous paper, Husserl's theory in the Logical Investigations makes judgment dependent on reflection on apprehension (Auffassung). On the other hand, Husserl analyzes "epistemic emotion" which is essential to all cognition in later works such as the C Manuscripts. According to this analysis, belief is epistemic desire to experience various objects, and apprehension is epistemic desires which occur in orderly way. Based on this analysis, a new theory of judgment can be developed. According to this theory, the pleasure and displeasure experienced from the fulfillment and disappointment of epistemic desire, namely "epistemic pleasure" (Lust) and "epistemic displeasure" (Unlust), are apprehended as all sorts of logical forms. This apprehension is the ordered expectations that epistemic pleasure and displeasure will be experienced with various objects under the right conditions. This not only solves the problem in the theory of the Logical Investigations, but also solves problems in other theories of judgment.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문에서 나는 후설(E. Husserl)의 현상학에 근거하여 새로운 판단 이론을 전개한다. 앞선 논문에서 밝혔듯이, 후설이 『논리 연구』에서 세우는 이론은 판단을 파악(Auffassung)에 관한 반성에 의존하게 만든다. 다른 한편 후설은 『C 원고들』 같은 후기의 작업들에서 모든 인식에 본질적인 ‘인식적 감정’을 분석한다. 이러한 분석에 따르면, 믿음은 이러저러한 대상들을 경험하려는 인식적 욕구이고, 파악은 규칙적인 방식으로 일어나는 인식적 욕구들이다. 그리고 이러한 분석에 근거하여 새로운 판단 이론을 전개할 수 있다. 이러한 이론에 따르면, 인식적 욕구의 만족과 실망에서 경험되는 즐거움과 괴로움, 즉 ‘인식적 쾌(Lust)’와 ‘인식적 불쾌(Unlust)’가 모든 종류의 논리적 형식들로 파악된다. 이러한 파악은 적절한 조건에서 이러저러한 대상들과 함께 인식적 쾌와 불쾌가 경험될 것이라는 규칙적인 기대(Erwartung)들이다. 이를 통해 『논리 연구』의 이론에 있는 문제를 해결할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 다른 판단 이론들에 있는 문제를 해결할 수 있다.
