90년대 여성소설의 화두, 모성 : 딸의 서사와 어머니의 서사 = The Topic, the Mother of Women Novel in the 1990s

The novels in the 1990s presented so many women's problems as to be called the age of women novels. Women novels described the aspect of illegal inequality and suppression by the prejudice of man controlled society, and endeavored to secure women's identity picturing women themselves. In that course, the mother recognized as the apex of women image was the object of refusal as it was no more than an ideology imposed by the monarchial society and an exaggeration of biological fact as fundamental one. Family was grasped as suppressing and exploiting structure and the home like that of present state was recognized as the reproducer of capitalistic system. At the core of all these is women, who were recognized as the victim of this system and convention and subject of the reproducer. They said that the mother was acquired in the socializing process, and women were confined at a private space called home, and their maternity was considered as the entire feature of them.
Under this condition, the women novel in the 1990s making the mother as main topic has its own fruits saying with the daughter's and the mother's voice. That is, the description of the daughter begins to see the mother as a concrete woman, and tried to understand her life connected to the daughter in the continuum. The description of the mother starting to say with her own voice without borrowing other's one reveals that ' the woman as a mother is a human being.
