소득계층별 교육과 가구소득의 세대간 이전에 관한 연구 = A study on the intergenerational transfer of education level and household income by income bracket

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study is to investigate whether there exists an intergenerational transfer of education level and household income by income brackets in korea. In the analysis, we use the data of Korean Labor and Income Panel Study. The total number of households used in the study is 618 pairs of parents and children. The results can be summarized as follows. First, there exists a intergenerational transfer structure that parents' education and income levels seriously affect children's education levels, which in turn affects children's income levels. Second, comparing to higher-income group, lower-income group has more elasticity in the effect of parents' income on children's education. Third, the return on education investment is low in the low-income bracket. This study shows empirically that there exist educational and income transfers between generations.
