The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships of fathers` parenting behavior with preschooler`s attachment and with social competence. The subjects of this study were 112 preschoolers aged 5 and 6 years and their fathers. The main results were as follows : 1. There were significant differences in father`s parenting behavior and preschooler`s sex, income. There were significant relationships between father`s parenting behavior and their childhood experience. 2. There were significant differences in preschooler`s attachment and sex, income of home. There were significant relationships between preschooler`s attachment and father`s childhood experience. 3. There were significant differences in preschooler`s social compement and sex, income of home. There were significant relationships between preschooler`s social compement and their temperament. 4. Father`s total parenting behavior was negatively correlated with avoidance. Physical athletic support was positively corrlated with self-reliance and negatively with avoidance. 5. Father`s total parenting behavior was positively correlated with leadership. Physical-athletic support was positively corrlated with ability and leadership. 6. Self-reliance was positively correlated with leadership and negatively with apprehension. Avoidance was negatively corrlated with leadership.
