Our country's current provincial system was established when the existing eight provinces in 1896, the Josun era, were reorganized into thirteen provinces. Most of provincial offices at this time were located in the existing places where the administrative government offices including gamyoung were. Thus, they can be seen as having naturally selected their locations and constructed their space involving Fengshui, which is our country's traditional view of location.
However, for a political purpose and others during the Japanese Colonial Rule, each of the three provincial offices such as the Gyunggi, Gyungnam and Choongnam Provincial Office were moved. Also after our country's government was established, the six provincial offices such as the Gyunggi, Gyungnam, Jeju, Jeonnam, Jeonbuk and Choongnam Provincial Office were moved.
In particular, a majority of the provincial offices moving in the 2000s are characterized by having moved to other vulnerable cities for the development of the corresponding provinces with the broadening of the local government in the region where each provincial office was located. Also, for the same reason, the Gyungbook Provincial Office is preparing for moving to Andong in 2014.
When the preceding studies and so on saying that Fengshui can also be applied in modern location as the traditional theory of location began to be published after the 1980s, it began to be expanded in domain to various fields and merged with other disciplines. Not only in the meantime many local governments moved, but in the future no fewer than provincial offices will seemingly move. The partial studies are being made which deal from the viewpoint of Fengshui with the regions to which part of provincial offices will move, but the comprehensive studies have not been made which deal with all the nine provincial offices. Therefore, this study tried to make a systematic and comprehensive analysis of all the nine provincial offices in our country with the classic of Fengshui as the main part through the theories of galryong, jangpoong, deuksoo, junghyul, hyunggook and jwahyang, bibo and the like.
Through this study, I confirmed how the Fengshui containing our ancestors' wisdom and intelligence was being projected on each provincial office. In particular, I classified the traits of location shown through an interpretation of location from the viewpoint of Fengshui into jangpoonggook, deuksoogook and others, analyzed the elements of location suitable to the trait of location and the advantages and disadvantages of location on a provincial office by provincial officebasis and further presented what was necessary or had to be complemented(supplemented) for the location of each provincial office from the viewpoint of Fengshui.
By suggesting that the elements of Fengshui be introduced and be made the grounds for judgement when a local government prepares a location for its office building or when other administrative government offices select their locations, this study will be said to be the important study necessary to enabling Fengshui to develop into a modern and practicable theory of location, especially, an environment-friendly theory of location where it can be merged with natural environment.
