This study is to specify leisure constraints of Chinese students in Korea and provide basic material for leisure program plan and leisure welfare plan of foreign students by studying the relations between leisure constraints and adjustment to college life of Chinese students in Korea.
In order to achieve this goal, Chinese students in Kangwon National University and Hallym University located at Chuncheon-si Gangwon-do were set up as a population and 192 surveys out of 220 were analyzed using convenience sampling method.
To verify reliability and validity of scale, Cronbach'a and confirmatory factor analysis was performed. Also, to verify research hypothesis, frequency analysis, one-way ANOVA, correlation analysis, multiple regression were performed using SPSS 18.0 and AMOS18.0.
Through above procedure, the relations between leisure constraints and adjustment to college life of Chinese students in Korea were analyzed and concluded as following.
At first, leisure constraints in sex according to population sociological variables was higher for women than men in immanent constraints which is low level of leisure constraints. In leisure constraints according to part time activity, students with part time job activity showed lower immanent constraints and structural constraints than those without part time job activity, and interpersonal constraints was shown higher for students with part time job activity.
At second, it showed that in adjustment to college life according to population sociological variables, academic adjustment and personal emotion adjustment which are low level of adjustment to college life became lower as stay in Korea was longer.
At third, the difference in adjustment to college life according to participation decision for leisure showed significantly in academic adjustment which is low level of leisure constraints, and liesure participating students showed lower academic adjustment.
At fourth, the relations between leisure constraints and adjustment to college life showed that structural constraints statically affects on social adjustment, personal emotion adjustment and college environment adjustment which are lower level of adjustment to college life.
From the above study results, Chinese students in Korea experienced much stress on study and had structural constraints. However, such structural constraints resulted in statically affecting on adjustment to college life, and leisure constraints resulted in not greatly affecting on adjustment to college life. From the results, it could be known that the main target of Chinese students in Korea is study and graduation and they are not significantly consider leisure constraints. It is necessary to try in various aspects for changes in leisure cognizance and comfortable college life through leisure.
