고등학생 진로개발역량에 있어서의 부모의 역할 = The Parental Role in Career Development Competency among High School Students

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to explore parents’ effects on highschool students’ career development competency. Specifically, total of six types of parents’ factors included conversation with parents regarding interests and aptitudes, future job, and decision on school and major, respectively, parents’ awareness of their children’s wishing job, parents’ participation in school career education, and parents’ satisfaction toward school career counselling. The study used the data from “2016 Survey on Current Status of Career Education” conducted in the Ministry of Education and Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education Training. The final sample consisted 5,841 highschool students. The main findings were as follows: 1) high school students’ perceived level of conversation with their parents regarding interests and aptitudes, and decision on school and major affected positively on career development competency in individual, social, and career management. Also, parents’ awareness of high school students’ wishing job showed positive effects on three of career development competency fields. 2) the results for parents’ participation in school career education and parents’ satisfaction toward career counselling revealed positive relationships with highschool students’ career development competency in individual, social, and career management. The study implied that parental participation in career education would promote high school students’ career competency.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 고등학생의 진로개발역량에 있어 부모의 영향을 살펴보고자 하였다. 구체적으로 부모의 역할은 자녀가 지각한 흥미와 적성, 미래직업, 학교 및 학과 선택에 관한 부모와의 대화 정도, 부모의 자녀 희망직업 인지 여부, 부모의 학교 진로교육 참여, 부모의 학교 진로상담 만족도를 포함하였다. 고등학생 자녀의 진로개발역량은 개인영역, 사회영역, 진로관리영역으로 나누어 살펴보았다. 연구목적을 위해 교육부와 한국직업능력개발원이 실시한 “2016년 진로교육 현황조사” 자료로부터 부모와 자녀 모두 조사에 참여한 고등학생 5,841명의 진로활동 및 진로정보 관련 자료들을 사용하였다. 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 고등학생 자녀가 지각한 부모와의 대화정도는 흥미와 적성 또는 학교 및 학과 선택에 관한 주제인 경우 자녀의 개인영역, 사회영역, 진로관리영역 진로개발역량에 유의한 정적 영향을 미치고 있었다. 또한, 부모의 자녀 희망직업 인지여부가 고등학생의 진로개발역량에 긍정적인 영향을 주고 있었다. 둘째, 부모가 학교 진로교육에 참여한 자녀가 참여하지 않은 부모의 자녀보다 개인영역, 사회영역, 진로관리영역의 진로개발역량이 더 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 부모의 학교 진로상담만족도가 높을수록 세 영역에 있어 자녀의 진로개발역량이 향상되었다. 이 결과는 고등학생 진로개발역량에 있어서 부모 역할의 중요성을 보여주었으며, 이에 부모와 자녀 간에 진로에 대한 대화를 통해 경험을 공유하는 것이 필요하며, 학교 진로교육에 대해 부모가 자녀의 입장에서 관심을 가지도록 격려하는 것이 요구된다.
