The aims of this study are to evaluate the relationship of the characteristics of channel geometry, and to derive correlation analysis model which relates frequency floods to basin physiographic factors in Korea rivers.
The representative watersheds selected for this study of flood frequency analysis is the Han River system. The frequency analysis are carried out considering the effect of artificial flow regulation due to dam constructions.
Frequency floods of each station in the river system are estimated are annual maximum series method. A correlation analysis model which relates annual maximum flood flows to basin physiographic factors at gaging stations is derived by the generalized regression analysis method.
The characterized variables as channel geometry are the bankfull discharge, flow velocity, river width, river depth. The bankfull discharge are determined as 2.33 years of return period of flow frequency. The bankfull discharges are correlated with width, depth and mean velocity of each cross sections.
The results of this study will provide various hydrologic information for the planning and the design of the hydraulic structures, and also will be practical applicability of the river improvement project for the future development.
