터프팅 기업을 활용한 텍스타일디자인 개발 - loop & cut pile을 중심으로 - = Development of Textile Design Using the Tufting Technique - Focusing on Loop & Cut Pile -

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 터프팅의 작품제작 활동이 텍스타일디자인 전문가들뿐만 아니라 일반인 누구나 쉽게 참여할 수 있는 대중적인 표현기법임을 알리고자 하는데 있다. 생활 수준 및 정보 수집 편의성의 향상과 더불어 섬유 패션 제품을 직접 제작하는 것이 유행하면서 터프팅에 대한 관심도 높아지고 있다. 이에 본 연구의 목적은 터프팅 기법의 루프파일과 컷파일 유형에 따른 제작 과정의 정리에 있다. 이를 위해 국내외 학술지, 학위논문, 문헌, 인터넷 자료 등 다양한 선행연구를 통해 터프팅 기법을 이론적으로 고찰하고, 루프파일과 컷파일의 표현 방법 및 유형을 분석하였다. 또한, 터프팅 제작의 작업 환경, 도구의 종류 및 사용 방법, 실의 굵기에 따른 효율성과 적합성을 실험 제작을 통해 검토하고, 이를 바탕으로 터프팅 기법을 정리하였다. 연구 과정에서 터프팅 건을 활용하여 텍스타일디자인 시제품을 제작하였으며, 루프파일, 컷파일, 그리고 두 기법을 조합을 루프&컷파일 시작품을 제작하였다. 또한 텍스타일디자인의 입체적 표현을 강화하기 위해 마무리 단계에서 카빙 기법을 적용하였다. 이를 통해 터프팅 기법이 단순한 평면적 디자인을 넘어 입체적인 텍스타일 표현으로 확장될 수 있음을 보여주었다. 이러한 연구 결과는 텍스타일 전문가뿐만 아니라 일반인 누구나 부담 없이 터프팅 기법에 접근할 수 있게 하여 섬유패션 소품 디자인에서 창의적이고 독창적인 표현 방식을 제공할 뿐만 아니라, 시대적 트렌드에 부합하는 텍스타일디자인의 범위를 확대하는 데 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

This study aims to inform that tufting is a popular expression technique that can be easily participated in by not only textile design experts but also the general public. As the standard of living and convenience of information collection improve and direct production of textile fashion products becomes popular, interest in tufting is also increasing. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to organize the production process according to the types of loop pile and cut pile of the tufting technique. To this end, the tufting technique was theoretically examined through various previous studies such as domestic and foreign academic journals, dissertations, literature, and Internet materials, and the expression methods and types of loop pile and cut pile were analyzed. In addition, the work environment of tufting production, the types and methods of use of tools, and the efficiency and suitability according to the thickness of the yarn were examined through experimental production, and the tufting technique was organized based on this. During the research, textile design prototypes were produced using a tufting gun, and loop pile, cut pile, and a cut & loop pile prototype was produced by combining the two techniques. In addition, the carving technique was applied in the finishing stage to enhance the three-dimensional expression of the textile design. Through this, it was shown that the tufting technique can be expanded beyond simple flat design to three-dimensional textile expression. These research results will allow not only textile experts but also the general public to easily access the tufting technique, and will not only provide a creative and original way of expression in textile fashion accessory design, but will also contribute to expanding the scope of textile design that matches the trend of the times.
