부모의 제한적 시청지도에 대한 자녀의 지각이 그들의 TV 프로그램 시청행위에 미치는 영향 = Effects of Elementary School Students` Perception of Their Parents` Restrictive Guidance on Their TV Program Viewing Behaviors

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study started from concerns about increases in elementary school students` exposure to harmful TV programs, caused by the late time TV viewing and unregulated Internet uses. In fact, a good deal of research has already confirmed parental restrictive guidance as an educative tool to regulate children`s adequate TV viewing behaviors. However, this study intends to test whether this parental restrictive guidance would be practically executed to their child`s TV program viewing through TV and Internet as well. This study also means to examine whether this parental restrictive guidance would effectively regulate their child`s inappropriate TV program viewing behaviors. A survey was conducted with 462 fifth and sixth-grade elementary school students were recruited from Seoul, Daegu, and Kyungsang province. Results are as follows. Children largely perceived that their parents did not actively conduct restrictive guidance on their viewing of harmful TV programs. However, it turned out that the more likely children were to perceive their parents` restrictive guidance, the less likely children were to view inappropriate TV programs through TV and Internet as well.
