The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a web-based Science-Technology-Society (WB-STS) program for improving learning motivation of science academy students. Web based instructional model consists of five steps: 1) Selecting problems, 2) exploring solutions, 3) examining principal concepts, 4) refining solutions, and 5) implementing solutions into new settings. Beginning science academy students participated in the program for one semester. Both quantitative and qualitative analyses were performed in order to verify the effects of the program application. Students who participated in the WB-STS program showed significant increases in the area of intrinsic motivation compared with that of those students who did not participate in the program. While there was no statistically significant increase in the area of self efficacy among students in the experimental group, the qualitative data indicates that the WB-STS program has positive effects on the self efficacy among students.
