인공지능이 인간을 초월하는 시대의 사회적 변화와 문학적 상상력 = “Social Changes and Literary Imagination in an Era where Artificial Intelligence Transcends Human.”

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 레이 커즈와일의 󰡔특이점이 온다󰡕와 아이작 아시모프의 󰡔아이, 로봇󰡕이 제공하는 통찰력을 바탕으로 인공지능의 비약적 발전이 인간사회에 초래하는 변화와 그 의의를 연구한다. 커즈와일은 인공지능이 인간의 지능을 초월하는 특이점의 도래를 예견하며 인공지능의 발전이 인류의 삶을 근본적으로 변화시킬 것이라고 주장한다. 이러한 관점에서 볼 때 아시모프의 단편소설 ｢바이어리: 대도시 시장이 된 로봇｣과 ｢피할 수 있는 갈등｣은 특이점 이후의 사회를 상상하며 인간과 로봇의 관계를 탐구한다. 특히, 이 작품들에 등장하는 로봇들은 단순한 도구가 아니라 인간 혹은 심지어 신적 존재에 속하는 미덕을 구현할 수 있는 도덕적 행위자로 제시된다. 커즈와일과 아시모프의 고찰을 통해 본 논문은 인공지능이 인간사회에 미칠 잠재적 영향을 평가하며, 이러한 변화에 대한 대비의 필요성을 강조함으로써 인류가 인공지능과 공존하는 미래사회에서 기술이 인류의 복지를 증진시키는 방향으로 발전할 수 있도록 사회적 논의와 준비가 필요함을 제안한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This essay studies the insights provided by Ray Kurzweil’s The Singularity is Near and Isaac Asimov’s I, Robot to explore the changes brought about by the rapid development of artificial intelligence in human society. Kurzweil envisions the post-singularity society where artificial intelligence will surpass human intelligence, creating beings with expanded capabilities and challenging traditional religious notions of transcendence. From this perspective, Asimov’s short stories “Evidence” and “The Evitable Conflict” imagine the post-singularity society. In particular, the robots called Byerley and the Machine are presented not only as tools but as moral agents capable of embodying virtues traditionally ascribed to humans or divine figures. This essay evaluates the potential impact of artificial intelligence on human society and emphasizes the need to prepare for these changes. For this purpose, this essay suggests that social discussion and preparation are needed so that technology can develop in a direction that improves human welfare in a future society where humans coexist with artificial intelligence.
