This study addresses the contemporary context in which artificial intelligence (AI) technology is fundamentally transforming educational paradigms, pointing out the limitations of traditional knowl edge-transmission-centered education and emphasizing the importance of creativity and critical thinking as core competencies required by future society. In particular, it argues that art education, which has been marginalized within traditional educational systems, can play a pivotal role in culti vating uniquely human values that coexist with AI. To this end, this research conducts an in-depth analysis of the successful case of Minerva University, which is recognized as one of the most in novative universities in the world.
The study derives key educational principles from Minerva's ▲global immersion environment ▲ competency-based interdisciplinary curriculum ▲fully active learning-based pedagogy ▲out come-oriented assessment system, and proposes a concrete innovation model that integrates these principles into university-level art education for the AI era. Through analysis of prior research, this study critically examines the limitations of existing AI education discourse, which has focused heavily on technological utilization and efficiency, and art education research, which has remained confined to defensive justification.
Finally, by benchmarking the Minerva model, this research presents a new educational paradigm in which art education can be redefined as a higher-order mental activity that cultivates creative think ing habits beyond mere skill acquisition, and seeks to derive policy and practical implications.
