두 개의 어린이날 = 선택된 이야기와 묻혀진 이야기

국문 초록 (Abstract)

어린이날은 해방 후 정치적ㆍ이념적 갈등 없이 계승된 역사적 기념일로 간주되고 있으며, 실제로 그동안 어린이날에 대해 반론이나 의문이 제기된 일은 없다. 그런데 일제강점기 어린이날은 소년운동권의 좌우 대립으로 인해 여러 차례 분열을 겪었고 폐지론이 대두하기까지 했다. 이렇게 분열의 역사가 있는 어린이날이 어떻게 해서 해방 후 그런 갈등과는 무관한 탈정치적 기념일로 급전환될 수 있었을까? 이러한 문제의식에 기초해서 본 논문은 일제강점기 어린이날의 전개과정을 재검토하고, 그동안 거의 밝혀지지 않은 채 공백 상태로 남아 있던 해방 후 어린이날의 부활 과정 및 양상을 고찰하였으며, 역시 그동안 밝혀지지 않았던 어린이날의 날짜의 의미와 해방 후 날짜 변경의 이유 등에 대해서도 탐구하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Children’s day has been considered as a memorial day inherited from the colonial period without any political and ideological conflicts. In fact, there has not been any polemics against or questions about Children’s day at all. However, Children’s day in the colonial period experienced several interruptions due to confrontations between the Leftists and the Rightists in the camp of children’s movement and furthermore some argued for an abolition of the day. How did such a contentious Children’s day become a de-politicized memorial day completely detached from political and ideological confrontations? Based on that problematic, this paper examines Children’s day in the colonial period and explores the process of revival of Children’s day which were not disclosed until now. In addition, this paper also explores the meaning of the Children’s day and the shift of the date of Children’s day after the independence of Korea.
