The purpose of this project is planning a mid-/long term communication strategy for the new era of the KCDC headquarter in Osong city. In this project, we built up our mid-/long term PR strategy which can advertise health-related policies and services to the public more effectively. Here are the three research questions. First, we conducted a content analysis dealing with previous studies, case studies, and preliminary research hearing from some related groups. Second, we produced mid-/long term Road Map for the KCDC’s strategic communication. Along with the strategy, we came up with the evaluation categories to check if the campaign was effective or not. In order to solve the research questions above, we analyzed the overlook regarding the PR planning managements from many related organizations by conducting content analysis of the literature including media reports in Korea and other countries. In addition, we analyzed the content of the KCDC’s website and investigated the hierarchy structure of PR related departments inside the KCDC. After a series of the research indicated above, we conducted the FGIs using the people from directly related organizations with the KCDC’s tasks. Also, two times of the survey among regular citizens regarding their general attitude toward the KCDC. The number of the people participated in the surveys was about 1,500. As results, we built up the mid-long term PR strategy (2013-2020) for KCDC and suggested structural tactics which look accomplishable. Also, we set up the priority regarding the target audience of KCDC and suggested the strategic concept, the media channels for specific target audience, and message tactics. In addition, we suggested the PR strategy to promote the results from R&D activities by KNIH (Korea National Institution of Health). The results from the present project could have several meanings from diverse perspectives including policy making, socioeconomic, and academic standpoints. In terms of policy making perspective, this study suggested PR campaign strategy to be executed. Therefore, the results from this study provides a crucial background to successfully accomplish the ‘2020 5STAR+’ which visionaries the future 10 years of the organization. From socioeconomic perspective, the strategy suggested from this project should be essential for promoting professional medical services, and helpful for improving the KCDC’s awareness and reliability ultimately. Also, the strategy should provide important information to respond to potential health risks efficiently. In academic standpoint, this project will stimulate further studies dealing with PR strategy for public organization. This study is a convergent study which is highly related to health, medicine, advertising, and Public Relations. Since this project is applying many theories used in academia and industry, it should make a huge contribution in the field of PR activities for medical organization including the KCDC.
