It has been postulated that relatively greater produc - tion of prostaglandin (PG) F as compared to PGE migh t b responsible for the bronchial hyperreactvity in asthmatic pa tients. Author determined sequentially serum levels of PG I n perennial bronchial asthma and in normal subjects. The results obtained as follows. 1) Serum PGE levels we re 9. 2 42. 8 ng/ml in normal subjects and l. 7 31. 7 ng/ml in asthmatic p atients. 2) Serum PGF.. Levels were 2. 8 6. 3 ng/ml in normal subject s and 3. 7 12. 3ng/ml in asthmatic patients. 3) PGE/F y ratio were 3. 0 11. 6 in normal sub- ject s and 0. 3 3. 9 in asthmatic patients. 4) There were no characteristic circ adian v ariatio n in normal subjects and bronchial asthma
