〈뷰티 인사이드〉에 나타난 액체근대의 징후

국문 초록 (Abstract)

‘현대사회의 유동성’이라는 속성을 제시한 지그문트 바우만의 ‘액체 근대’ 개념을 통해 한국사회와 미디어텍스트 간의 유기적 관계를 다각도로 살펴본다. 본 연구는 〈뷰티 인사이드〉에서 읽을 수 있는 한국사회의 액체근대적 모습을 변화하는 정체성, 안정된 관계의 불가능성, 병리적 징후를 껴안는 해피엔딩의 관점에서 살펴본다. 판타지적 설정을 갖고 있는 대중 멜로 영화에서 바우만의 세계관이 한국의 문화적 배경으로 묘사된 것을 읽어내는 연구가 가능한 것은 〈뷰티 인사이드〉가 관객들이 처한 현실의 결을 잘 반영한 장르영화이기에 가능하다. 바우만이 주장했던 액체근대 개념들이 한국에도 적용 가능한 것은 그의 학술적 경륜이 폭넓다는 것을 입증하기도 한다. 액체근대의 속성인 끊임없이 변화하는 유동성이 한국사회에서도 징후처럼 나타나고 있는 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

I will examine various aspects of organic relations between Korean society and media texts through the concept of "Liquid Modernity" by Zygmunt Bauman, who presented the nature of "fluidity in modern society". The study looks at the modern liquid appearance of Korean society as read in 〈Beauty Inside〉 from the perspective of identity, the impossibility of stable relationships, and a happy ending that embraces pathological signs. In a popular melodrama with a fantasy setting, it is possible to study Bauman"s world view as a Korean cultural background because it is a genre film that reflects the audience"s reality. The fact that the modern liquid concepts that Bauman argues are applicable to Korea also proves that his academic experience and knowledge are broad. The constantly changing liquidity that is the property of the liquid modernity is emerging as a sign in Korean society.
