예비교사를 위한 시각문화 미술교육과정 분석과 교육 프로그램 개발 = Studies on visual culture with curriculum analysis and program development in preservice art education

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고는 예비교사를 위한 시각문화 미술교육을 실시하고 있는 미국대학의 교육과정을 분석하고 이를 토대로 교육 프로그램을 개발하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구자는 미국 대학에서 시각문화를 가르치고 있는 미술 교육자들의 시각문화 관련 강의계획서, 교재, 그 밖의 관련 문서를 분석하였다. 또한 대학에서 시각문화를 가르치는 미국의 미술 교육자들을 면접하여 시각문화를 가르치는 그들의 교육철학, 교육 방법 등에 관해 조사하였다. 예비교사를 위한 시각문화 미술교육과정을 분석한 결과 비판적 사고를 통해 사회적 이슈를 다루고, 이미지에 나타난 재현을 분석하여 문화적 정체성을 탐구하도록 하고, 다양한 교육방법을 활용하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 특징을 기초로 연구자는 시각문화를 예비교사에게 가르치기 위한 교육 프로그램을 제안하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Recent curriculum change in art education is to teach visual culture. Korean national art curriculum includes visual culture from elementary schools to high schools. The author argues for curriculum changes in art teacher education. To develop visual culture art curriculum, this article examines curriculum framework, syllabus, and certification programs in U.S. universities. Interviews with faculty in U.S. art education programs address issues of teaching visual culture. Critical thinking and social issues are central topics in their classes. Stereotypes, violence, ideology and power relations are analyzed in broad range of images. Critical examination of popular culture enables students to critique stereotypes that impact on the construction of identity. Issues concerning representation and cultural identity are important content of visual culture art education. Diverse teaching methods are utilized to integrate preservice art teacher’s learning. Reading, discussion, critique of visual culture, curriculum planning, journal and portfolio provide preservice art teachers with opportunity to have authentic learning experience. The author suggests visual culture curriculum program in preservice art education based on postmodernism and critical pedagogy.
