방임, 과보호가 청소년의 심리사회적 적응에 미치는 영향 = The Influence of Parental Neglect and Overprotection on Youth`s Psychosocial Adjustment -Focusing on Moderating Effect of Private Tutoring-

국문 초록 (Abstract)

부모의 적절한 양육방식은 아동기뿐만 아니라 청소년기 자녀가 건강한성장을 하는 데도 매우 중요하다. 본 연구는 방임, 과보호가 청소년의 심리사회적 적응에 미치는 영향과 사교육의 조절효과에 대해 실증적으로 분석하였다. 본 연구는 2008년 한국아동청소년종합실태조사를 통해 구축된 18세이하 자녀가 있는 총 6,923가구 중 15∼18세의 청소년이 있는 1,130가구의 자료를 분석하였다. 방임과 과보호는 빈곤가구에서 높게 나타났으며, 사교육은 고소득가구에서 많이 하는 것으로 나타났다. 방임과 과보호는 모두 청소년의 심리사회적 적응에 부정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고, 사교육비는 청소년의 내면화문제를 증가시키고 외현화문제를 감소시키는 것으로 나타났다. 다음으로 방임, 과보호와 심리사회적 적응 간의 관계에서 사교육의 조절효과를 분석한 결과, 방임상황에서 높은 사교육은 청소년의 내면화문제를 더 증가시키는 위험요인으로 작용하였다. 반면 방임상황에서 높은 사교육은 외현화 문제에 미치는 부정적 효과를 완화시키는 역할을 하는 것으로 나타나 보호요인으로도 작용하였다. 하지만 과보호의 상황에서 높은 사교육은 청소년의 외현화 문제에 미치는 부정적인 효과를 증가시켜 위험요인으로 작용하였다.

Proper parenting method is significantly important for youth`s healthy development. This study empirically examines that the effect of parental neglect and overprotection as well as the moderating effect of private tutoring on youth`s psychosocial adjustment. This study utilized data from the Korean Youth General Survey 2008. The sample was 1,130 out of 6,923 households who have youth between ages of 15 and 18 years. The results of this study are as follows. First, the level of parental neglect and overprotection were higher in poor households. On the other hand, the tendency of having private tutors for youth was higher in high-income households. Second, neglect, parental overprotection and expenses on private tutoring had statistically significant effects on youth`s psychosocial adjustment. Parental neglect and overprotection had negative effect on youth`s psychosocial adjustment. However, higher expenditure on private tutoring was associated with higher internalizing problems, but also with lower externalizing problems. Finally, based on the analysis of moderating effect of private tutoring on youth`s psychosocial adjustment, a higher level of private tutoring was identified as a risk factor of internalizing problems and a protective factor of externalizing problems in the case of neglected youth. However, a higher level of private tutoring was identified as a risk factor of externalizing problems in the context of parental overprotection.
