발달장애 청소년의 사회적 관계 이해를 위한 포토보이스 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 포토보이스 연구방법을 이용하여 발달장애 청소년의 사회적 관계를 이해하는 것이다. 이를 위해 지적장애 청소년 6명을 모집하였고, 총 7회기로 구성된 포토보이스 프로그램을 실시하였다. 연구 참여자들은 집단토의를 통해 친구, 학교 선생님, 이성친구, 부모님, 필요한 사람과 관련한 주제를 선정하였고, 각 주제에 대하여 자신의 이야기를 잘 표현하는 사진을 촬영하여 집단토의에서 다른 참여자들과 공유하였다. 연구자는 집단토의의 내용을 분석하여 총 15개의 하위주제를 도출하였다. 연구 참여자들이 포토보이스 프로그램의 각 회기별 주제에 따라 촬영한 사진과 그 사진에 반영된 자신의 경험 및 감정은 내러티브로 표현되었으며, 연구자는 각 주제에 적합한 사진과 내러티브를 선정하여 연구주제에 대한 이해를 도모하였다. 연구결과, 발달장애 청소년은 비장애청소년과 마찬가지로 사회적 관계를 형성하고자 하는 욕구를 가지고 있을 뿐 아니라, 발달장애의 특성을 반영하는 독특한 욕구와 어려움이 있음이 확인되었다. 본 연구에 참여한 발달장애 청소년들은 주로 학교와 집이 유일하게 사회적 관계를 형성할 수 있는 공간이었고, 가족을 제외하고는 학교 친구나 이성친구, 선생님과도 제한적인 상호작용을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과는 발달장애 청소년의 사회적 욕구에 기반한 사회성 향상 프로그램을 개발하기 위한 기초자료 뿐 아니라, 사회복지 실천 및 정책현장에서 발달장애 청소년에 대한 인식과 이해를 높이는 자료로 활용될 것이다.

The purpose of this study was to explore social relationships of adolescents with developmental disabilities, using the photovoice method. A total of 7 sessions of a photovoice program was implemented with six adolescents with intellectual disabilities. The participants selected themes related to relationships with peers, teachers, boyfriends/girlfriends, parents, and persons whom I need, through group discussions and shared their photos related to the themes with other participants. Transcribed discussions were analyzed by the researchers and the analyses yielded 15 subthemes within selected themes. The participants’ stories related to each theme were reflected in their photos and narratives. Then, photos and narratives that better elaborate each theme were selected by the researcher. The study found that the participants with developmental disabilities not only have common needs in their social relationships as the same as their peers without disabilities, but also have unique social needs and challenges due to the nature of disability. The participants developed their social relationships mostly at school or home, but their relationship with peers, boyfriends/girlfriends, and teachers were still limited.
